Pennsylvania Game Commission ranges, explained
What is the total of Game Commission ranges in this guide?
36 in all; this list was last checked October 12, 2026.
Where in Pennsylvania are Game Commission ranges most common?
Dauphin County leads with 2, then Berks (2), Greene (2) and Pike (2).
Are any Game Commission ranges closed right now?
State Game Lands 230 Public Shooting Range: Range Closed for Maintenance; State Game Lands 42 Public Shooting Range (Ligonier Township): Temporarily Closed for Maintenance; State Game Lands 43 Public Shooting Range: Range will be temporarily closed Monday, May 18th – Friday, May 22nd, 2026.
What does a State Game Lands range permit cost?
$31.97 a year, good for 365 days from purchase. A current general hunting or furtaker license works instead.
Do archery ranges on game lands need a permit?
No. Game Commission archery ranges need no range permit and are open dawn to dusk.
Can I see which Game Commission ranges are closest to me?
Yes. The location button sorts by miles from you; the county menu sorts from a county center instead.
What gear is expected on the line?
Ear and eye protection, a cased and unloaded firearm, ammunition the range allows and your own targets. Game Lands ranges supply no targets.
When were these rows last verified?
Checked October 12, 2026 against the PGC layer and the directory listings; doubtful rows were set aside.
