Tennessee Deer Units 2026-27

Which counties are in Units 1 to 6, and the antlerless limits each unit carries.

Unit 1 (21 counties)

3 per day in Young Sportsman, archery, muzzleloader, straight-wall rifle and gun seasons. None in August hunt.

Unit 2 (19 counties)

3 per day in Young Sportsman, archery, muzzleloader, straight-wall rifle and gun seasons. None in August hunt.

Unit 3 (18 counties)

3 per day in Young Sportsman, archery, muzzleloader, straight-wall rifle and gun seasons. None in August hunt.

Unit 4 (14 counties)

Young Sportsman 2 total (four days combined); archery 4; muzzleloader + straight-wall week 2; gun 2. None in August hunt. Moving counties within a unit does not add to the limit.

Unit 5 (9 counties)

Young Sportsman 2 total (four days combined); archery 4; muzzleloader + straight-wall week 2; gun 2. None in August hunt. Moving counties within a unit does not add to the limit.

Unit 6 (14 counties)

Young Sportsman 2 total (four days combined); archery 4; muzzleloader + straight-wall week 2; gun 2. None in August hunt. Moving counties within a unit does not add to the limit.

How many deer units does Tennessee have?

Six for 2026-27, replacing the old lettered units.

What do deer units control?

Antlerless limits. The antlered limit is 2 per season statewide.

Does moving counties change my limit?

Limits apply per unit; moving between counties in one unit does not reset them.

Are WMAs part of the units?

WMAs set their own antlerless rules in their listings.

How many does can I kill in Unit 1?

Can I exceed the buck limit?

Only through a WMA bonus deer, Earn-A-Buck in a CWD-positive county or a replacement buck.
