Before a Georgia deer goes to the processor
Georgia Hunters for the Hungry
Georgia Hunters for the Hungry (WRD and Georgia Wildlife Federation) accepts donated deer through participating processors (GWF.org/ghfth).
49 participating processors are tagged in the processor directory.
Report, then process
Report every deer through Georgia Game Check within 24 hours (Outdoors GA app, works without cell service; GoOutdoorsGeorgia.com; or 1-800-366-2661) and copy the confirmation number onto the paper Harvest Record. WMA bonus-hunt deer are instead checked at the area check station the day of kill. Deer received by a cold-storage or processing facility must be marked with hunter name, date, county and sex; hunters must give the Game Check confirmation number.
CWD sample drop-offs
47 processors and taxidermists in these lists are WRD CWD drop-off sites. Testing is essential in the CMA (participating processors, taxidermists or self-serve freezer/sampling sites listed at GeorgiaWildlife.com/cwd). Testing is not necessary outside the CMA but is available statewide; routine surveillance samples deer from cooperating taxidermists and processors.
Buying a license
405 stores sell licenses through Go Outdoors Georgia; online and phone sales add the transaction fee.
