Agency description
Sansavilla Wildlife Management Area is located in Wayne County along the Altamaha River. This 16,867-acre property offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and small game. There is no camping allowed on the property. The Wire Road Tract is now open for hunting as part of Sansavilla WMA. The tract is located on Wire Road, 8 miles south of the Wire Road/Highway 341 intersection. Dog-deer hunting allowed in designated areas only. All dogs must be marked with the selected hunter’s name and phone number.
All vehicles used in the dog-deer hunt must display DNR issued permit on vehicle dash. Hunting area is closed to all users during dog-deer hunts except to hunters with a valid quota permit. WMA includes the Wire Road Tract and Baptisia Tract.

Sansavilla WMA ground rules
Anyone 16 or older needs a Georgia hunting or fishing license, or a Lands Pass, just to enter. Online sign-in is mandatory for deer, bear and turkey; it opens the day ahead. A few dates are quota only, so apply ahead. Bonus-hunt deer are checked at the station on the day of harvest.

Three statewide rules for Sansavilla WMA
Orange or blaze pink, 500 square inches above the waist, during primitive weapons and firearms deer and bear hunts. Hunting over bait is unlawful on every state or federal property, this one included. Every deer, turkey and bear goes into Game Check within 24 hours.
